1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how Quinn Literary LLC, which publishes under the pen name Reneé Quinn ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit www.reneequinnwrites.com (the "Website") or subscribe to our email newsletter. We decide how and why your personal information is processed.

Questions? Contact us at renee@reneequinnwrites.com or 378 Fern St, West Hartford, CT 06119. This Privacy Policy is part of our Terms and Conditions.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us.

  • Newsletter signup: your name (if requested) and email address.
  • Messages: anything you include when you email us or send us a message.
  • Comments or reviews: anything you choose to post, if the Website allows it.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, our website host and platform receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and the page that referred you. This happens through cookies and server logs.

Email engagement information. When you receive our newsletter, our email provider records whether you open or click on an email and may log your approximate location and device.

Information we do not collect. We do not collect payment information through the Website, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as health, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or precise location. We do not collect personal information about you from other sources, other than the email engagement information described above.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • send you our newsletter and other emails you asked for, including updates about our books;
  • respond to your questions and messages;
  • operate, secure, and improve the Website;
  • prevent fraud and abuse; and
  • comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for targeted advertising or use it to make automated decisions about you.

4. Legal Bases (EEA and UK Visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal information on these legal bases:

  • Consent: to send you our newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
  • Legitimate interests: to run, secure, and improve the Website, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we must process information to comply with the law.

5. Email Newsletter and MailerLite

We use MailerLite to manage our subscriber list and send our newsletter. MailerLite processes your name, email address, and email engagement information on our behalf, under a data processing agreement, and may use it only to provide its services to us. MailerLite stores this information on servers in the European Union. You can read MailerLite's own privacy policy on its website.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any newsletter or by emailing us. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so that we do not email you again by mistake.

6. Cookies

The Website uses cookies that are necessary to make it work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Website may not work properly. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because there is no uniform standard for them. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

7. Who We Share Information With

We share personal information only with:

  • MailerLite, our email service provider, as described above;
  • MailerLite, which hosts and operates the Website;
  • other service providers who help us run the Website, under contracts that limit their use of your information;
  • authorities or others when the law requires it or when needed to protect rights, safety, or property; and
  • a buyer or successor in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or other transfer of our business.

8. Third-Party and Affiliate Links

The Website links to third-party sites, including book retailers. If you click an affiliate link, the retailer may place its own cookies and tell us that a purchase resulted from the click, and we may earn a commission. We do not control these sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

9. International Transfers

We are based in the United States, and your information may be processed and accessed in the United States and in other countries, including the European Union, where our service providers operate. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses in our service provider agreements, where the law requires them.

10. How Long We Keep Information

We keep newsletter subscriber information for as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address on a suppression list. We keep messages you send us for as long as needed to respond and for our records. We may keep information longer where the law requires it or where needed to resolve disputes, and we delete or anonymize information we no longer need. Information in backups is deleted when the backups are overwritten.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed, disclosed, or lost. Use the Website at your own risk.

12. Children

The Website is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at reneequinnwrites@gmail.com and we will delete it.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including if you live in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, or a U.S. state with a privacy law, you may have the right to:

  • know whether we process your personal information and access a copy of it;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete your personal information;
  • restrict or object to our processing, and request data portability (EEA and UK);
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing; and
  • not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

We do not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or profile you for decisions with legal or similar effects, so there is nothing to opt out of.

How to make a request. Email us at reneequinnwrites@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and tell us what you would like us to do. We may ask you to verify your identity. An authorized agent may make a request for you if you provide written permission. We will respond within the time required by law, generally 30 to 45 days.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by emailing reneequinnwrites@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We will respond in writing with our decision and reasons. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Complaints. If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have unlawfully processed your information, you can complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in Switzerland, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
